Ecclesial Unity of the Church of the East: Historic Celebrations
In the atmosphere of Pentecost - that of spiritual joy and Christian love - the ecclesial unity celebrations between Chaldeans and Assyrians, Catholic and Apostolic, were conducted, as scheduled, on Saturday and Pentecost Sunday, May 10 & 11 2008, in the cities of Turlock, Ceres and Modesto CA.
The liturgical ceremonies and the social banquet were performed in order to finalize and seal the merger, in the Catholic Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle, of four Assyrian parochial communities and two missions, including their clergy and faithful. Click here for full report and picture gallery!

April 08: Pictures from Rome Papal Mass
HE Bishop Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo, HE Bishop Mar Bawai Soro, Father Kamal Bidawid and Chorbishop Samuel Dinkha recently returned from Rome where they attended the Papal Mass on Sunday (April 27) and the General Papal Audience on Wednesday (April 30). His Grace has released his much anticipated book titled “The Church of the East: Apostolic & Orthodox”. The book is a result from years of research and studies undertaken by His Grace. Site visitors can purchase their copy of this historic book by 
His Grace Mar Bawai Soro was invited to the St Paul Assyrian Chaldean Parish in LA where he participated in Holy Mass on Sunday January 20, 2008. 
An official statement was released on Saturday November 3rd regarding recent developments inside and outside of court. 
His Grace Mar Bawai Soro gave a thorough update of current Church events in Modesto on October 7, following recent developments in California and requests by parishoners.

On July 22rd, James Shamoon, Martin Amo , and Banipal Enwiya were ordained as Subdeacons, while Alan Aldawood and Mark Rasho entered the diaconate as Readers. 
Almost one thousand members of the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac community attended a peaceful rally in downtown Chicago to voice their concerns over the worsening situation in Iraq. The event was well publicised and attended by a range of Churches and organisations. 
His Grace delivered an inspiring keynote address at a dinner reception held in support of the the movement for Unity and Renewal, in San Jose on April 29, 2007. 
Sermon delivered by His Grace Mar Bawai Soro at Mar Yosip Cathedral on Sunday, March 25th, 2007. His Grace expounded on the Gospel passage about The Good Shepherd and His Flock (John 10), and exposed the motive and nature of Satan’s assaults on Christ’s Church here in this world.
His Grace Mar Bawai Soro briefed members at the Mar Yosip Parish Annual General Meeting in San Jose on February 18, 2007. His Grace spoke words of encouragement, stressed the importance of obeying Christ and thanked all those who have embraced the movement of Christian unity and reform. He also reflected on his mission, views and roadblocks with respect to the most recent issues. 
This year, as in previous years in San Jose, parishioners from Mar Yosip Cathedral joined parishioners from Saint Mary’s Church in prayer services during Ba’utha D’Ninwayeh, the Rogation of the Ninevites. Ba’utha D’Ninwayeh commemorates the repentance of the King of Nineveh and all her dwellers in response to the preaching of Jonah the Prophet that “unless you repent, you shall face God’s wrath.”
His Grace delivered a sermon on the humility of Christ, the responsibility of clergy and further comments on reconciliation. 
After a successful Christmas period in Chicago, His Grace attended a lecture focusing on the need to continue pursuing Christian unity. Over 500 were in attendance including Fr. Awiqam Pithyou, ArchDeacon from the Ancient Church and Fr. Senaharib from the Chaldean Church. 
The meeting comes days after His Eminence Mar Yakoub Daniel from the Ancient Church of the East in Sydney welcomed newly appointed Chaldean Oceana bishop His Grace Mar Jibrail Kassab, to a dinner and prayer function. 
His Grace Mar Bawai Soro led a group of faithful parishoners in prayer for the 31st commemoration since the death of His Holiness Mar Eshai Shimun XXIII. 
The Commitee in Solidarity with His Grace Mar Bawai Soro joined the community in Sydney by welcoming Mar Jibrael Kassab as the new bishop for Oceana. Mar Sarhad Jammo from California was also in Sydney visiting the local congregation.
